SAKSHAM

SAKSHAM, a sustainability campaign initiative by Golden Feathers, takes this challenge as an opportunity to inspire better choices through wood-free paper, circular practices, tree plantation, and social impact—working towards a greener future for both people and the planet.

Paper production is deeply connected to our planet’s natural resources, with conventional paper production relying on wood pulp and freshwater resources. Producing 1 kg of conventional paper can require around 9 kg of wood and approximately 200 litres of groundwater, depending on the production process. Together, these facts highlight the need for more responsible and resource-conscious alternatives in our everyday lives.

It Started With a Belief
I started with a simple question:
What if the things we create today could give something back to the world we leave behind?
As our population grows, so does our dependence on everyday resources. Paper is something we use every day, yet its conventional production depends heavily on wood and valuable freshwater resources.
I wanted to challenge that.
That thought became the foundation of Golden Feathers and our journey towards creating wood-free paper—reimagining how something as familiar as paper could be made with a more responsible approach.
But I soon realised that creating a better material was only one part of the answer.
We also needed to create a culture of giving back.
That is where Saksham began.
With every Saksham diary, we put a seed into someone's hands. Not just as a seed, but as an invitation—to plant, to nurture, to participate and to believe that one small action can become part of something much bigger.
Our vision is to plant 25 lakh+ trees every year, while creating opportunities that support people, livelihoods and education.
Because I don't want to imagine a future where we simply talk about what we lost.
I want to imagine the future we chose to grow.
A future where empty spaces become forests.
Where children grow up surrounded by trees.
Where the resources we use today do not come at the cost of tomorrow.
This is the future I see when I think of Saksham.
25 lakh+ trees are not just a number.
They are 25 lakh+ promises to tomorrow.
